Key Verse: Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
According to the internet, diligence refers to a careful and persistent work or effort. An example of diligence is a person who does a job efficiently and takes care of little details!
Biblical examples of diligence include Joseph and Daniel!
“And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same. And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.” (Genesis 41:48-49) Joseph was thorough and God’s Presence with him made the difference! God is raising a generation of believers that will be before kings, men who God will use to provide solutions to national and world-wide problems but He desires that you be dilligent. Though promoted, Joseph did not work shabbily, he left no stone unturned.
“Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.” (Daniel 6:4) Even in leadership, Daniel was faithful! There was no fault found in him! In all he had been given to do, there was no laxity. If you want to stand before kings just like Daniel and Joseph, you MUST be diligent in whatsoever you find your hands to do in accordance to God’s will.
“In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.” (Daniel 9:2) In fact, Daniel’s studying helped him in intercession! Have you been called to a particular career? Do it with diligence! Have you been called into business, music, kingdom fashion, whatever it is, do it with DILIGENCE! God is glorified when we are diligent. Diligence attracts kings, dignitaries, men and women of honour and even God, to partner with you! God will open doors beyond your imagination!
Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people. Proverbs 22:29(NLT)
Lastly, when God uplifts you, do not think it’s your diligence that took you there but remember the blessing of the Lord that makes rich and adds no sorrow to it. Return the glory to Him. So, whilst you are diligent, always involve God. He is the one who can direct you to invest your resources appropriately and fruitfully.
Prayer: Help me LORD to trust in You always and be diligent.
